You cannot earn salvation. It is God's free gift, received by faith in Jesus Christ.

💝 What is Salvation?

Let me put it plainly: you do not have to earn God's love or make yourself good enough before you come to Jesus. Salvation is his free gift of forgiveness and eternal life. We receive it by faith in Christ, not by paying money, doing enough good works, or keeping a religious checklist.

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." - John 3:16 (KJV)

A Gift Received by Faith, Not Earned by Works

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." - Ephesians 2:8-9 (KJV)

Grace means God's undeserved kindness. Faith means trusting Jesus and what he has done for you, rather than trusting your own record. A gift is not wages. You do not buy it, work for it, or repay God before he will welcome you. Jesus has done what we could never do for ourselves.

"Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;" - Titus 3:5 (KJV)

Good works matter, but they are the fruit of salvation, not its price. Baptism, church attendance, giving, and helping others cannot purchase forgiveness. We follow Jesus because of his grace, not to make him owe us eternal life.

🚫 The Problem: Sin Separates Us

All of us have sinned and fallen short of God's perfect standard. Sin creates a barrier between us and God, and the consequence of sin is spiritual death and separation from God.

Romans 3:23 (KJV): "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

Romans 6:23 (KJV): "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

✨ The Solution: Jesus Christ

God did not leave us to try harder and hope for the best. Jesus Christ, God's Son, lived without sin, died on the cross for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day. Our hope rests in the living Saviour and his finished work, not in how well we have performed this week.

Romans 5:8 (KJV): "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

1 Peter 3:18 (KJV): "For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:"

1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (KJV): "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:"

🙏 How to Be Saved

Salvation is received by faith in Jesus Christ. These are not four tasks to earn God's welcome. They explain what it means to come to him and trust his promise.

Come Honestly

We have all sinned and need forgiveness. You cannot save yourself, but you do not need to hide from God or pretend you have everything sorted.

Trust Jesus

Believe that Jesus died for your sins and rose again. Rely on him alone as your Lord and Saviour, rather than on your goodness, feelings, or religious background.

Turn to God

Repentance means turning to God, acknowledging your sin rather than defending it. It is not making yourself perfect before he will save you. You can call on him honestly in prayer.

Rest in His Promise

A prayer can express faith, but the words themselves do not save. Jesus saves. Your confidence belongs in him and his promise, not in how emotional you felt or whether you said everything just right.

Romans 10:9 (KJV): "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

Romans 10:13 (KJV): "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

🙏 A Prayer to Receive Christ

If you are turning to Jesus in faith, you can speak to him in your own words. This prayer is an example, not a formula or a payment for salvation:

"Father, I know I have sinned and cannot save myself. Thank you for sending Jesus to die for my sins and rise again. I turn to you and trust Jesus alone as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you that forgiveness and eternal life are your free gift, not something I can earn. Help me to grow in the new life you give. In Jesus' name, Amen."

The promise is for those who believe in Christ, not merely those who repeat a prayer. If you are trusting him, rest in his word: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life." - John 6:47 (KJV)
